Description

A tanto in aikuchi mount — no tsuba — with an ebony handle and matching ebony saya, both polished and waxed to a close, fine-grained finish that reads almost black.

The blade is u-no-kubi zukuri: the spine is cut away toward the tip, leaving a narrow ridge that lightens the point. Steel is T10 tool steel, clay-tempered, mirror-polished, on a one-piece tang.

The fuchi is brass with a pierced openwork panel; the habaki is plain brass. A single mekugi pin secures the tsuka.
